Customer Reviews of Mikasa Brewmasters Beer Tasting Flight set
Customer Rating: Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5
Summary: Good for a tasting party
Comment: I purchased this for my husband to share his home brews with guests. The glasses are pretty basic (sort of the size of a juice glass) - not fabulous quality.

The tray holds the glasses very firmly, which is nice if you are walking around with them. While the tray looks a bit clunky and cheap (relative to the price), it seems to be well made - however it honestly feels big and heavy compared to the glasses and needs two woman hands to hold (hence clunky). There is not a really great place that you could grab this with one hand - you really do need to hold this from the sides and the bottom. I wish there was something similar with more than 5 glasses. I would definitely buy again if the price came down.

I am taking off 1 star for the bulkiness of it, quality of glasses, and quality relative to price.

Summary: A great find!
Comment: I had been looking for months for this type of item. We are home brewers and having a tasting tray was something we really wanted. I found this particular set by referral and was very excited to order it. I recently received it and was very impressed. I have always known that Mikasa makes quality products and this item lived up to my expectations. I am one for a bargain so if I see these go on sale again I will probably pick up a couple more.

Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans
This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking.
Choosing Appliance -> Spatulas
Buy a sturdy stainless spatula for general uses and a Teflon spatula for your non-stick pan. In addition, buy a silicon baking spatula for scraping bowls. Silicon is an amazing substance which is heat resistant up to 550 degrees.

Kitchen tips -> Chopping and Mincing
When you want to finely chop foods such as: onions, garlic, parsley, or other items, pivot your knife by keeping the tip of the knife on the cutting surface at all times and hold the knife at an angle, about 95' angle, towards the hand holding the tip. This way, you use the blade to push and keep the food particles down, thus making them easier to chop. If the knife should slip, then the sharp side of the blade will slide away from where you're working, and away from your other hand and fingers. In addition, you make less noise, as compared to when raising and lowering the knife of the cutting surface trying to mince foods.
