Customer Reviews of Tramontina Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle - 2 Qt.
Customer Rating: Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5
Summary: Very good quality tea kettle
Comment: The large tri-ply base helps to minimize heat loss, so it takes (much) less time to boil the same amount of water. The whistle works very well. The lever design is very clever and elegant. The overall stainless steel finish is good, and the handle does not get hot at all. I totally agree with a previous reviewer that "It pours well without a lot of sputtering". I believe this tea kettle will last a long time with some good care.

Summary: Very Nice Product, Perfect Weight
Comment: This is a fine tea kettle.

The first thing I noticed is the look of the kettle. It has a sleek and beautiful exterior that will match any decor. It is eye catching and looks great sitting in wait on the back burner of my stove. This kettle has personality plus.

The second thing to notice is the weight of the kettle. It has a perfect balance to it, even while pouring. It is heavy and fine enough to immediately know that it is constructed well, but it also feels very solid; as if it will last forever. Neither the handle or the trigger feels shaky. Everything sits exactly where it should for maximum comfort and ease of use. The trigger is easy to reach and smooth to operate, the handle does not get hot and is the gripper is placed at the perfect angle to create the balance it needs when pouring. The rubber that the grip is made of feels soft on the hand with just enough "give" when you hold it or pour it.

Cleaning it was simple. It is very easy to wash the inside of the kettle. I have medium to large hands but there was no problem, it was easy to dry and "shine up." The finish on it is perfect and does not require buffing to look good.

After reading the reviews I decided to purchase this kettle and give it a try. I was a bit concerned about the time it takes to heat water due to another persons review, but I should not have been alarmed. I filled the kettle to the bottom of the spout and heated it at dead-center-medium. My water was ready in under 10 minutes. I cannot claim to know why it took so long for the other reviewer, possibly elevation, but it worked quickly on my stove.

The whistle sounds to me like every other tea kettle. Not annoying,not pleasant per-se, but not too loud. It is loud enough to remind me that I heated water and it's done. I almost purchased one of the kettle's with the harmonic whistle, but when I read the reviews on those kettles, most all of them seemed to stop working after the first few times.

Now the hard part; the price. This is a very expensive kettle for a middle income family. Price is the reason that I give it only four stars. If it lasts my entire lifetime, it will be worth it's weight in gold. If I do not have to replace it every few years then i will be extremely happy and be sorry that I did not give it five stars. There is of course no way to know that at this point.

Right now, I am very happy with the kettle and I am glad that I purchased it. I might add that it was very hard to find, only one man on Amazon could get it for me and I could not find it anywhere else online... trust me, I looked. If you can find it cheaper; I would buy it hands down. If you can't, then consider whether buying a new kettle every few years will add up to the same price you will pay for this one. I do know that I have other Tramontina pans that look and work as good right now, as they did the day I bought them.

Best of luck in your search.

Summary: Great Tea kettle
Comment: I have now had this kettle for several months and it is holding up better than hoped for. I would highly recommend this product even if the price were higher. As it is, it is also a great value.

Summary: Just What You're Looking For
Comment: * 18/10 Stainless Steel
* 9" Tri-Ply Base (stainless steel + aluminum + stainless steel)
* Specially designed whistle with unique trigger operation. Remember to seal the lid tightly or the whistle won't sound. The trigger is perfect and never gets hot.
* Easy poring spout.
* Soft-grip, rubber contemporary handle.
* Mirror finish nd satin accents. As with all stainless steel, it might get discolored without regular washes--about once a week with warm soap water is good. Do not use a Brillo pad unless you have to.
* Elegant design. Feels quite large, given the base, but it is a 2 quart.
* Lifetime warranty.

Choosing Appliance -> Ladles
Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. With use, spot welded ladles tend to come apart. Buy several differnet sizes.
Choosing Appliance -> Strainers
We recommend 2 strainers for every kitchen. The first is a solid stainless steel colander (one big enough to wash a lot of lettuce at once). The second strainer is a fine mesh conical strainer (called a chinois) which is a must for any serious sauce or stock making. A chinois is an expensive purchase, but with care it will last many years.
