Customer Reviews of Zyliss Food Chopper, White
Customer Rating: Summary: Great for the price Comment: This is a really great little chopper. The trick with any of these is to whack them hard and fast. You can chop much finer and evenly than if you used a knife. The only problem I've had is that the little plastic blade cover melted when it fell to the bottom of my dishwasher. It's about a three cent piece, but without it, it's not as effective. Someone mentioned not getting water inside of it, but I've had mine three years, and put it in the dishwasher all the time. The action on this one is smooth and it has put up with three years of me whacking it really hard. All in all, an excellent tool, especially for the price! Customer Rating: Summary: not for small jobs Comment: I bought this to chop/ mince small amounts of garlic, onions, etc., and it's not very good for the purpose. It's impossible to chop two cloves of garlic because they'll stick to the blades and you spend a lot of time un-stuck-ing them. It's not worth the time and effort to use it. It's good for doing a larger amount of mincing, however. This is a kitchen gadget I can live without. Customer Rating: Summary: Fast and even Comment: This is by far one of my favorite kitchen utensils. I can dice, mince, etc. most vegetables so much faster and more evenly with this than I can with a chef's knife. Also, when I chop onions, I cry less with the chopper because the onions stay contained underneath the pastic so the fumes cannot get to my eyes. My only complaint, and it is minor, is that it is a bit tricky to clean. You don't want to just dunk it in water, because it will make the mechanical part rusty, so you have to hold the button down to clean the blade. But this is a very minor issue to me. Customer Rating: Summary: Simply The Best Comment: The Swiss have a long history and reputation for making the best precision instruments in the world and Zyliss, a Swiss company, deserves this reputation. More Reviews Instead of pulling out your food processor for small chopping jobs, use the Zyliss Food Chopper. It's great for chopping nuts, vegetables, and more. Press down on the plunger a few times for a coarse chop, or press down a few more times for finer result Choosing Appliance -> Hobs If you enjoy eastern cuisine, you can buy a speciality hob with a wok burner. Similarly if you are a BBQ fan, choose a BBQ grill. If you are left handed, go for front rather than right hand side controls as this eliminates the risk of reaching across the heat. If you cook for a large family, more than four rings may be useful, and if you have young children it may be worth considering paying a little extra for a hob guard or in the case of gas, choosing an automatic re-ignition or cut off device should the flame blow out. Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Zyliss Food Chopper, White Useful info -> What is a Springform Pan Traditionally, a springform pan has been defined as a round pan, that with the aid of a clamp, has removable sides and bottom. Generally used for cheesecakes, these pans allow cakes or tortes to be easily extricated from the pan. |
