Customer Reviews of KitchenAid KPRA Pasta Roller Attachment for Stand Mixers
Customer Rating: Summary: Too Much Fun! Comment: OK, it's official... I'm a cooking gadget addict, and these pasta rollers are the perfect fix! It's so much fun to roll out your own fresh and tasty pasta. I found the set to be sturdy, good quality, and extremely easy to use. They are a bit pricey but if you love to cook from scratch and appreciate a good gadget you'll probably find these worth the cost. Customer Rating: Summary: Good product Comment: I was worried about not being able to immerse it in water - turns out that this is not a problem at all. Pasta dough is really dry, so dry it seems it won't turn into anything. Hardly any dough stuck to the rollers, and it was really easy to brush off. I think this is a worthwhile attachment for the KA. It's very well designed, and is easy to use, once you get the hang of it. I was going to go the budget route, and get a manual pasta maker, and I'm SO glad I got this attachment instead. Having the KA do all the hard work allows you to guide this in and get perfect pasta. Customer Rating: Summary: not good at all.... from an Italian Comment: I purchased my KA mixer a few weeks ago and I just got now this attachment. I was really looking forward to get it, I'm Italian, living outside my Country, and I always made home made pasta by hand. Well, the mixer worked fine, the flat pasta came out allright after trying a few times, byt spaghetti and fettuccine were a total mess. The spaces are too close and the spaghetti will come out attached one to each other. They are drying right now, but they look more like lasagna than spaghetti.... And I tried to use more and more flour, let it dry first... nothing worked. A real waste of money, I'll take out my old manual machine, way better.Don't waste any money on this! Customer Rating: Summary: Kitchenaid Pasta Maker Comment: This unit is one of the best attachments to my old K5A KitchenAid. Definitely worth the high price. Customer Rating: Summary: Pasta For Dummies! Comment: I like to cook, thought it would be fun to make pasta at home. Did a little Amazon surfing, came across these attachments, saw that people liked it, thought I'd give it a try: I successfully made pasta the same day the attachments were delivered. It took an attempt to get the dough right (so expect to lose at least one batch), but once I figured out what the dough was supposed to be like, the rest went like magic and was incredibly easy and fast. More Reviews Can your mixer make pasta? If it's a KitchenAid Stand Mixer it can. All you need is the KPRA pasta adapter for it. The Pasta Roller and Cutter attachment for KitchenAid Stand Mixers quickly and easily makes a variety of fresh, high-quality pasta. Utilizing an adjustable knob that changes the distance between its rollers, the pasta roller attachment rolls dough into sheets of desired thickness for homemade egg noodles, ravioli, lasagna, and other types of pasta. The sheets of pasta may then be cut using either the fettuccini or linguini / spaghetti cutter attachment to create various widths of pasta. Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Washer When shopping for a new washer, look for a front loading (horizontal-axis) machine. This machine may cost more to buy but uses about a third of the energy and less water than a top-loading machine. With a front loader, you'll also save more on clothes drying, because they remove more water from your clothes during the spin cycle. Look for the Energy Star label. Choosing Appliance -> Whip / Whisk Many still consider a whip as a "gourmet" piece of kitchen equipment. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is as essential as a kitchen stove and should be in everyone's kitchen. Nothing works better for mixing a multitude of different preparations or for making sauces or gravy. Buy a solid stainless steel whip with moderately stiff wires. Very thin wires are for mixing delicate things like egg whites or whipped cream. Very thick, solid wires are for mixing stiff dough. KitchenAid KPRA Pasta Roller Attachment for Stand Mixers Kitchen tips -> Potatoes salad When cooking potatoes to use in potato salad, add a little vinegar to the water when boiling the potatoes. The vinegar causes the potatoes to form a thin crust, which helps them hold their shape |
