Customer Reviews of Norpro Stainless Steel Vertical Poultry Roaster
Customer Rating: Summary: Vertical Poultry Roaster Comment: Fabulous chicken, every time; moist, tender, and full of flavor. Sprayed with Pam, the cleanup of this item was incredibly easy. Can't recommend this product enough. Customer Rating: Summary: Works! Comment: What can you say about such a simple item? I used Emeril's recipe for a vertical chicken roaster and it was yummy. I did brine the chicken overnight as recommended on another recipe site. I put the roaster in a cake pan to catch stray drips. To get the hot chicken/roaster out of the cake pan and onto a platter, I inserted a bent wire (cut up wire clothes hanger) into the neck cavity and hooked onto the roaster and lifted it out and placed in onto a platter (or else I would have had to use a lot of paper towels). From there it was easy to get the chicken off the roaster. Oh, before I took the chicken out of the cake pan, I used a turkey baster to suck up all the liquid (drippings and a little water) to prevent spills. Saved all that liquid, defatted and threw it in with the bones later to make some stock. Clean up was easy. I did PAM the thing, don't know if that made a difference. Also the wires come off for easier cleaning and efficient storage. Customer Rating: Summary: This are GREAT!!!! Comment: I love them. They easily snap together. Cooking whole chickens are great. Nice and crispy. Plus it catches all the grease and makes your chicken healthier. I snap them apart from the base while still in the chicken and then it easily pulls right out. Toss them in the dishwasher. I do line everything with foil and put it in a cookie sheet. Then simply toss the foil with the grease. They simple do the job. Customer Rating: Summary: Easy, Fast, Perfect Chicken Roaster Comment: When I come home late, I put the chicken on the roaster, set the oven timer, and let the chicken bake by itself. I come home to heavenly roasted chicken. No turning, the skin is fabulous, and it even makes a little natural gravy. I gave all of my female relatives a roaster for Christmas, and they were all WOWED! The roaster has made life just a little bit easier for all of us. Customer Rating: Summary: Pleasantly surprised Comment: I was skeptical about how much better this could be over a regular roasting pan, and only bought it for the 4-for-3 promotion. I was wrong though - this is SOOO much better than a typical pan. I've used it twice now and absolutely love it. I can cook a 7 lb chicken to perfection in 1 hour. I find it's best at 450 for 20 min, and then at 400 for 40 min - the meat was completely cooked and practically falling off the bone! I do put another dish underneath it just in case, because you do get a lot of drippings, but I can roast potato wedges in that dish at the same time. Next time I might add a beer can or something in the middle. When removing though, make sure to loosen the chicken from the rack, or it can get a bit stuck. Oh, and it's really easy to clean. Absolutely love this! More Reviews Norpro's vertical poultry roaster is designed to allow fats to drip off your chicken or other poultry as it cooks, leaving only juicy, flavorful, lower-fat meat. The deep drip tray collects the fat so that it doesn't coat your oven, although putting a baking sheet under the roaster is advisable for larger birds. The vertical roaster promotes even cooking, since all sides are exposed to the oven's heat. This configuration also makes the skin exceptionally crispy, a feature which will be lost on those who discard the skin for health reasons The drip tray and rack are both made of stainless steel, which conducts heat quickly and evenly. --Julija Gelazis Choosing Appliance -> Strainers We recommend 2 strainers for every kitchen. The first is a solid stainless steel colander (one big enough to wash a lot of lettuce at once). The second strainer is a fine mesh conical strainer (called a chinois) which is a must for any serious sauce or stock making. A chinois is an expensive purchase, but with care it will last many years. Choosing Appliance -> Knives The importance of high quality knives can't be stressed enough! Buy the best you can and expect to spend some serious money. It is better to buy a couple of excellent knives and slowly add to your collection rather than buying an entire set of low quality knives. Start with a chef knife and paring knife. You will also want to buy a sharpening steel. Norpro Stainless Steel Vertical Poultry Roaster Useful info -> How should I decorate my kitchen? Make sure that all wood mouldings such as doors, architraves and skirting boards are adequately painted before decorating. Ceilings too should be completed. Protect cabinets, appliances and floor coverings from paint or paste drips. You may want to unscrew wall cupboard mounted cornice to facilitate decoration. Don't put too much paste on your paper as it can become very soggy and tear rather than cut. Let the paste soak in for the recommended time and use top quality scissors and a craft knife with a ready supply of new blades for a sharp cut. Borders hide ragged edges at the ceiling. You will be so proud of your work when you have finished. |
