Customer Reviews of Proctor Silex 75400 PowerOpener Under-The-Cabinet Can Opener , White
Customer Rating: Summary: not worth the money Comment: I ordered this can opener to replace an existing Black & Decker I had for over 15 years. I chose this one because of the price and it would work under my cabinets like my old one. When I got the opener, I was disappointed when using it, because the swing arm would routinely come undone (as if I were taking it off for cleaning) whenever I put the can up to be opened. I figured this a minor inconvenience and tolerated it because of the cheap price. Now, I cannot open a can. I make sure the arm is locked in place, and the motor runs, but I cannot get the blade to pierce the can. I have asked neighbors and friends to try, and nothing works. Unfortunately, I am past the return date for Amazon, and now have to deal with the company and warranty. I would not recommend this product to a anyone, since I have had problems with it from the beginning (because of the design), and now, after only 2 months, it is useless. Don't buy this product, spend a bit more for something that works! Customer Rating: Summary: Very pleased Comment: Small but powerful can opener. Takes very little room. Ace's delivery was quick and accurate. Happy shopper. Customer Rating: Summary: Great can opener Comment: It works just like it's supposed to. It doesn't fit under my cabinets well, but I think that's more to do with the overhang of the cabinets than the can opener. Customer Rating: Summary: Another "Bait & Switch" routine by an online sales company Comment: Do not order this item from Total Concepts. They claimed that the item was in stock (and still shows the item in stock at the time of this writing)and it was not. I needed this can opener for the holidays only to get emails from Total Concepts claiming the item was on backorder from the factory. If the item is on backorder, why are you showing the item in stock? I then received an email from Amazon on Dec. 23 telling me the order has been canceled. WHAT GIVES PEOPLE??? Very, Very disappointed. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Can Opener Comment: Great can opener but doesn't have the knife sharpening feature other openers in the same price range have. More Reviews Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking. Choosing Appliance -> Mixer Pretty much the same thoughts as the food processor. High quality mixers are great for making bread or other tough jobs. Every kitchen should have one. Be sure that any mixer has all three attachments: paddle, dough hook, and whip. Also, find a spot on the counter where it can be easily accessed at a moment's notice. Proctor Silex 75400 PowerOpener Under-The-Cabinet Can Opener , White Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Stainless Steel Maintenance Wipe away any acid spills such as from vinegar or grapefruit straight away. Never clean the bowl or draining board with an abrasive cleaner. Instead use liquid detergent in warm water and wipe with a soft cloth to remove water drop marks. Care for stainless steel appliance fascias and cabinet fronts in the same way. If choosing stainless steel cabinets, a 'brushed' surface is less likely to show grease from finger marks. |
