Customer Reviews of Nostalgia Electrics CCP509 Full-Size Popper
Customer Rating: Summary: good value Comment: I would suggest this item for light work It looks bigger in the picture than it is in real life (isn't that always the case). Customer Rating: Summary: Popcorn maker Comment: We love this item - it was a hit at my daughter's birthday party. It is a bit of a pain to clean if you are using it frequently, but for a party or other large gathering, where you would clean once after many uses, it is definitely worth it. Customer Rating: Summary: Just a toy, It would take all day to fill the hopper. Cute Comment: If you want a item just to look at, its great, It would take all day to fill the hopper, and there is no heater in the bottom so the popcorn is cold as soon as it comes out. This is a conversation piece, not a usefull product other than 2-3 very small bags at a time. Full time job keeping any popcorn made. Want popcorn to eat, go the store and buy a tub already made. You could buy a lot for $200. Customer Rating: Summary: This is a bottom-of-the-line machine Comment: When my first unit didn't work properly, I had it replaced, but the new unit was no better - it just doesn't pop very well. I tried all kinds of different ideas to improve performance; I plugged the popper into different outlets, I weighted down the flip lids with quarters to prevent the kettle from spitting out unpopped kernels, I waited a long time to heat the unit, and then again to heat the oil before adding my kernels. With all my experiments, the very best scenario still left 1/4 - 1/3 of the kernels unpopped. Also, the stirring mechanism jammed as popped corn collected under the stirrers. There are other units available in the same price range with higher wattage that would probably work better. This one certainly does look cool, but I will stick with my stovetop until I can find a better quality unit. Customer Rating: Summary: CCP509 FULL SIZE POPPER Comment: JUST RECEIVED MY POPPER AND PARTS ARE MISSING,SO I AM NOT ABLE TO PUT IT TOGEGHTER.IT ALSO HAS DENTS IN IT. THIS MAKES ME WISH I NEVER ORDER ONE FROM AMAZON. More Reviews Traditional hot oil popper sits atop a moveable cart base. Modeled after the antique popcorn carts of the early 1900s. Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking. Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Dryer When shopping for a new clothes dryer, look for one with a moisture sensor that automatically shuts off the machine when your clothes are dry. Not only will this save energy, it will save wear and tear on your clothes caused by over-drying. Keep in mind that gas dryers are less expensive to operate than electric dryers. The cost of drying a typical load of laundry in an electric dryer is 30 to 40 cents compared to 15 to 25 cents in a gas dryer. Nostalgia Electrics CCP509 Full-Size Popper Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Natural Granite Maintenance Granite must not be rubbed with abrasive materials instead, wash with clean warm water to which a non-abrasive light neutral detergent (PH7) may be added. Rinse with clean warm water and dry with a chamois leather or similar. Drainer Grooves can be cleaned using wire wool. |
