Customer Reviews of Black & Decker EK700 SlimGrip Electric Knife
Customer Rating: Summary: Not quite what I expected after reading reviews Comment: After reading all of these reviews, I expected wonderful things out of this item. I purchased it to slice cured bacon. It does not slice cured bacon at all. So if you want to cut 'tough' food items, find another way. Customer Rating: Summary: EK700 price variation. Comment: A good knife with above average slicing ability but priced $5.00 higher than offered by Black and Decker on their Web pages. B & D Lists for $14.99 Amazon selling for $19.00 to $20.00 plus shipping. Exact same knife, no accessories. Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good product...... Comment: Simple to use, easy to clean and works pretty good for the money. I will put it to the real test on the holidays, but so far it works great! Customer Rating: Summary: great knife Comment: Works great with roasts and bread which is all I've used it for so far. Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good for its purpose Comment: Arthritic hands make for difficult handling of tools. My former electric carving knife works just fine for spouse and grown children, but I was unable to keep it running long enough to make a cut. This implement allows me to depress and keep depressed the cutting trigger. I've carved some fairly tough meats and some very tender cuts. The knife has worked equally well for both. I haven't yet tried it on anything frozen. The blades are easy to attach and detach. They clean easily with a soapy sponge, and have survived the dishwasher well, too. If I have any complaints, it would be that the knife is rather heavy and my hands tire easily when using it; being tied to a cord restricts its use to the preparation area, rather than the table; and (although I thoroughly understand the reason for it) having to hold down the trigger continuously is tiring. That third reason has no validity . . . if the knife is dropped, it doesn't need to keep cutting anything it comes in touch with! All in all, this is a very satisfactory tool, especially for persons with problem hands. More Reviews Choosing Appliance -> Built-in Ovens Keen cooks may want to take advantage of multi-function ovens - usually aimed at the top end of the market. As well as traditional cooking, fan or fan-assisted cooking and grilling, these ovens offer up to nine further functions. These include: Top element only (browning), bottom element (final cooking of pastry dishes or pizzas), fan and bottom element (delicate cooking), fan only (thawing). Choosing Appliance -> Black & Decker EK700 SlimGrip Electric Knife Kitchen tips -> Sharpening Knife A dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one, because you apply to it more pressure and force to cut through foods. It can easily slip out of place as you use it and you can harm yourself. Keep your knives in good working condition by sharpening according to their use and time. There's no specified amount of time, because knives vary as much as their use; although, you can easily determine if they need sharpening by the way they cut/slice foods. If a knife can slice through a tomato and tear the skin, then it needs sharpening. If, on the other hand, the cut is clean and quick without any tears, then it needs not be sharpened. |
