Summary: The Worst Piece of Junk
Comment: This is the worst piece of junk. I have had it about two years. I bought the service agreement and it had to be brought it for service twice. The third time, Thanksgiving morning, it died again. The service centers are few and far between and although it cost $10 for the service agreement, it cost $40 each time for gas/tolls to drop it off and repair the piece of junk!!
I will never buy and De Longhi product again. If you're smart, you won't buy a De Longhi toaster oven the first time!!!! I'm am not one of these people who writes reviews and comments on products but I had to let other people know to avoid this product.

Summary: Poor Quality
Comment: This is the second DeLonghi Convection Toaster Oven I purchased and the second one with a defective convection fan!!!! I had my first oven replaced (a big pain, had to pay for shipping, took over 2 weeks). Finally got it and in less than 3 years just stopped working completely!

Broke down and bought this one and the fan does not work again. It makes the loudest noise, I can't even use it. DeLonghi offered to fix it, but guess what? I would get to pay for shipping again and have to wait for a replacement oven!!!!

POOR QUALITY!!!! Will not be buying another DeLonghi product!

Summary: worked well until the knobs broke...
Comment: just a couple of months in, the on-off dial quit working and the oven would no longer turn on. BLAH! Too bad, because the size and shape of the oven was very convenient and it worked quite well for our purposes. But what's the point of making a good product and then cheaping out on the most critical component!

Summary: this has broken down in just a few weeks after purchase
Comment: The DeLonghi E!1251 oven/toaster is lovely and I love it but it never works for long. I've been through two, the last one having broken down today, one month after purchase. It just shuts down, no explanation. And I can't find anyone here in Manhattan who can repair it. Why should it do this? I buy it and then I toast and bake and enjoy it and then - whoosh! It stops working.

Any suggestions? Can I get a refund, or at least someone to help pay for the repair? By accident, you guys sent me two last month and I returned the second, unused one. I was going to keep it, figuring this would happen but I didn't want to spook it so I sent it back.

HELP!!!!

Summary: Looks and works great!
Comment: I've had this toaster for over 2 years and it works great -- toasts evenly unlike my previous Cuisinart model -- and heats up quickly.

Choosing Appliance -> Hobs
If you enjoy eastern cuisine, you can buy a speciality hob with a wok burner. Similarly if you are a BBQ fan, choose a BBQ grill. If you are left handed, go for front rather than right hand side controls as this eliminates the risk of reaching across the heat. If you cook for a large family, more than four rings may be useful, and if you have young children it may be worth considering paying a little extra for a hob guard or in the case of gas, choosing an automatic re-ignition or cut off device should the flame blow out.
Choosing Appliance -> Stainless steel bowls
These are the best all purpose bowls for a multitude of applications. Choose a wide range of sizes (be sure to get a large bowl for whipping egg whites and whipped cream). In general, the heavier the bowl, the higher quality.

Kitchen tips -> Eggs
  • Remove eggs from the refrigerator approximately 15 to 20 minutes before you are going to use them.
  • Check the shells of eggs to determine freshness. Fresh eggs have shells that are rough and chalky. Old eggs have shells that are smooth and have lost the chalky appearance. Or, place in cold salt water and if it sinks it is fresh. If it rises to the surface, it is old and should be discarded.
