Customer Reviews of Breadman TR2500BC Ultimate Plus 2-Pound Stainless-Steel Convection Breadmaker
Customer Rating: Summary: Poorly made, not worth the price Comment: I admit it - I am a bread snob. I expect a lot from a bread machine - fairly quiet kneading cycle, consistent temperature so the bread browns well without burning the bottom but also browns the top of the loaf, easy to use, and well built to withstand years of use. I had a wonderful GE bread machine that was a workhorse in the kitchen for almost 10 years. It went belly up, so I grudgingly started looking for a new one. I purchased the Breadman Ultimate from a different company (Walmart), and returned it after less than a week. The Breadman Ultimate is very poorly made. The pan is thin and the clips that hold it are flimsy. When the dough is kneading, the pan knocks around inside the machine and will occasionally pop out of the clips completely. I had to literally stand there and hold the pan in place to keep it from making a huge racket. Even hubby said there was no way we were keeping it. You needed ear plugs just to be in the same room with it! I will give it this - it did finally make good bread, but the poor construction convinced us that this machine will not hold up over time. I read all of the reviews and saw that customer service had recommended bending the clips to hold the pan in place better. Let me assure you that will not work. The clips are very thin and will break over time, IMHO. I wish I had heeded the negative reviews on this one and saved myself some trouble. Save your money and buy the Zojirushi. The Zoji is a great machine that is solidly built. It does need some tweaking to get the settings "just right", but that post is over on the Zoji page. :o) Customer Rating: Summary: works perfect Comment: we purchased this machine two years ago november. we make bread twice a week and have never had any problems. this is the third different brand but is by far the best. I will say that the auto dispenser does'nt always work, but thats ok with me Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent bread machine for the price. Comment: I've had bread machines over the years, mostly Oster brand, but this time I wanted one that baked horizontal (loaf-shaped) loves, but didn't have the funds for the more expensive models, and the Breadman UltimatePlus seemed to fit the bill nicely. I think all bread machine recipes need a bit of tweaking, and a couple of test loaves usually does the trick. I had read a suggestion somewhere about removing the kneading paddle BEFORE the final rise and bake cycles (right after it punches down for the second time. As a result, there's no weird hole in the bottom of the loaf after baking and you don't have to worry about digging the paddle out. Yes, this machine is a tad noisy (but I think they all are). I can live with that (kind of like the dog's snoring, you get used to it). It makes a really nice loaf of bread. The instruction manual has a good assortment of recipes. I particularly like the fact that the lid is removable, so it can be washed instead of merely wiped off. I probably don't use this machine nearly as much as I should, but when the mood strikes and I want freshly baked bread, nothing beats the ease of handling of this machine. Customer Rating: Summary: Problem and no customer support Comment: I bought a new Breadman TR2500BC bread maker and used it to bake five or six loaves. At least three times, the kneading paddle came off the shaft during the kneading process and worked its way toward one end of the loaf, resulting in ruined bread. The paddle does not seem to fit on the drive shaft as tightly as it should. If I place the paddle on the shaft, pushing it on firmly, and then hold the otherwise empty bread pan upside down and shake it lightly, the paddle drops off the shaft. I tried unsuccessfully to send an e-mail to the address given in the instruction manual, but my server said it was not deliverable. I then mailed a letter to the Consumer Relations Department, also at an address shown in the manual. That was a month and a half ago. I've received no reply. Customer Rating: Summary: Replacement for old breadmaker Comment: I bought this as a replacement for a 10 year old Breadman that up and died. When shopping for a replacement, the most attractive feature was the range of loaf sizes it could handle, 1 - 2 lbs. Compared the to old model, the TR2500BC does a better job of mixing. I no longer have to use a spatula to scrape down the sides. As a very real plus, it is much quieter than the old model. When I first used it, the pan would jump out of place when kneading. After bending out the pan retention springs, the pan now stays in place. I am very pleased with my choice. More Reviews Home bread baking has re-emerged as a craft, full of taste and creative satisfaction, with the advent of Automatic Bread Machines.Salton's bread machines are developed, tested and manufactured with a commitment to great baking and consumer satisfaction. Horizontal baking pan / Removable lid with see through window INSTANT RECALL 60 minute power failure back up Oven light / 24 hour delay bake / Bake only with variable temperature Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Choosing Appliance -> Dishwasher Choose a dishwasher with sturdy compression springs in the door. Also look for tough, lightweight nylon or graphite racks with cushioned tips that protect glassware and cookware. Weimer recommends choosing a model with a rack design that provides the largest, most flexible interior space and is configured for your belongings, including odd-shaped pieces.
