If I remember right, at first I did not know how to operate, needed to get the round piece that holds the can in position. (age 70yrs female) bought because could not use hand ones anymore. So I bought a new Oster 3147 can opener to solve the problem. This can opener does not work any better than the 20 year old can opener I threw away. Thanks for the new can won't opener. Bea Customer Rating: Summary: Very good opener. Comment: The Oster Metallic Can Opener is efficient and quiet. It also looks good on the counter. I like not having to keep my hand on the lever while opening, just start it and it will stop automatically and the magnet will grab the lid. An opener that does what it says it will do! Customer Rating: Summary: Happy so far Comment: This can opener has opened Costco's canned chicken that thwarted more than one handheld opener (i.e. Kitchenaid). It's not lightening fast, but what's the big deal? It takes a few seconds to open a large can, while saving my wrists and the minutes I used to spend. Haven't used the knife sharpener yet. Love the built-in space for tucking away the extra cord in back. The metallic design is clean and looks nice on the counter.
