Customer Reviews of One-Touch Automatic Can Opener - White (29101)
Customer Rating: Summary: Hands free can opener Comment: This is wonderful, it moves around the can on it's own and leaves the top and rim without a sharp edge. Because of this it does leave the can more flexible. Customer Rating: Summary: Dissatisfied Comment: We tried it when it first arrived. I had purchased it for my husband for a hunting trip, as he only has one arm, and thought it would be easy for him to use. It worked the one time when we tried it at home, and when he got to his destination and tried to use it, it DIDN'T work. A friend had brought a regular can opener and that is what they used the whole time they were there. We had purchased the One Touch jar opener and have loved it. It works every time, so we are VERY unhappy that the can opener wasn't as good. I would NOT recommend it to anyone. It is a waste of money. Customer Rating: Summary: Hemmorages battery life quicker than a hemophiliac using a porcupine loofah. Comment: Okay folks - That title is a little harsh...so to be fair, I'm going to list Amazon's product details and offer my thoughts on each: "Opens cans of all sizes" - Yes. Whether it's a small can of mushrooms or a big can of beans, this device latches on to the edge and works its way around with no trouble. "Easily lift lid off after can is open" - Another yes. When the device stops, the magnet holds the lid in place and makes for a simple removal. "Cuts from the side" - Yet another yes. Not much to add here. "Safe with no sharp edges" - This isn't always true. One of the lids came off with jags when the batteries ran low. "Lid won't fall into the can" - Another yes. Cutting from the side pretty much guarantees the lid won't fall in. "Stores conveniently in a drawer." - Yes. Sleek design here, no problems with storage. "Lid pops back on" - Well, I can't think of a reason why i would ever do this, but I suppose it can. "Opens over 100 cans per set of batteries" - This claim is 100% FALSE. I was only able to open 11 cans of varying sizes before the batteries died. I'll add in a couple extra points: (1) The opener doesn't always stop when the can is totally open. I've had the lid get stuck under the blade more than once and it kept churning away. (2) The biggest flaw is the "Reset" key - it's on the bottom of the device, right next to the blade. If the opener stops working before the lid is off, this key is COMPLETELY inaccessible. The instruction manual gives the following instructions to remove the can if it gets jammed: "To detach from can, push and hold the release button in the underside of the unit...if can is still jammed, PUSH AND HOLD the release button and AT THE SAME TIME, turn the Stall Release Screw counter-clockwise with a Phillips Head screwdriver to release." Okay, I could do this (maybe...), but what about consumers who specifically bought this device because of carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis??? Not a chance. Here's the bottom line: The opener does work, but since it sucks away battery life quicker than Dracula on crack, I can't give it higher than 3 stars. Customer Rating: Summary: Not worth the trouble Comment: I could not get this thing to work, it got stuck on the can and I could not remove it. A good old hand operated one is better. Customer Rating: Summary: Quit without warning! Comment: This worked fine and gave no inkling that the batteries needed to be changed until it quit while clamped onto a can. No matter how I tried I could not get it to release. So I had to toss the whole thing, can and all. I was so frustrated! I would have changed the batteries had I known this would happen, but it worked fine and gave me no warning. Maybe a low battery light would help? More Reviews The world's first cordless "hands free" can opener, a kitchen tool that you''l love! Imagine the awe you'll feel when you see the One Touch Can Opener "walk around" the can with no assistance from you! You don't have to hold the can and it stops automatically when its job is done. Its patented technology is designed to cut the lid without having to apply any pressure. Originally designed for senior citizens, it later proved to be effective for anyone! Arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome sufferers will find The One Touch Can Opener indispensable with its easy lift lid-off after the can is open. Choosing Appliance -> Dishwashers Check the capacity. 'Standard' 60cm wide dishwashers can take 12, 14 or 16 place settings, whilst slimline 45cm models may cater for 7, 8 or 9 place settings. Compact dishwashers tend to be 45 cm wide and can be placed on the worktop or built in, depending on the model. They may take 4, 5 or 6 place settings. Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Dryer When shopping for a new clothes dryer, look for one with a moisture sensor that automatically shuts off the machine when your clothes are dry. Not only will this save energy, it will save wear and tear on your clothes caused by over-drying. Keep in mind that gas dryers are less expensive to operate than electric dryers. The cost of drying a typical load of laundry in an electric dryer is 30 to 40 cents compared to 15 to 25 cents in a gas dryer. One-Touch Automatic Can Opener - White (29101) Kitchen tips -> Parsley To obtain more flavor from parsley, remove the stems and only use the leaves. Use a scissors to cut the leaves into pieces instead of chopping with a knife. Chopping generally causes the leaves to become mushy |
